#SchoneBride Hannah Dazzles In Rebecca Schoneveld Ingrid

J&H(304of661).jpg

We really do love getting to see photos from your wedding. It really lights us up inside to see how all of your ideas came together for this very special day of yours. We’re so happy we got to be a little part of it!

Our #SchoneBride Hannah is no different as she shared some of her favorite photos with us from her fall wedding last November. She truly dazzled us in her Rebecca Schoneveld Ingrid gown. Customized to be made sleeveless, she knew immediately that this was her dress! We could not be more over the moon! Seeing a bride just know immediately is like watching a magic happen right before your eyes.

A little from the bride:

“I purchased my wedding dress from Schone Bride last year on a special dress shopping trip to NYC with my mom & sister. We had a bunch of appointments set up across the city, with Schone Bride being the first, and the moment I put on my gown, Ingrid by Rebecca Schoneveld, I decided that was it, I didn't want to try on any other dresses, and cancelled the rest of the appointments (leaving us the rest of the weekend to explore the city!). I also purchased my veil from your store!”

Aren’t those smiles magnetic?! Pure happiness!

My husband (!!!), Jack, and I got married in the Chicago suburbs on November 22, 2019. Our ceremony was warm and intimate, held in St. John's United Church of Christ in Palatine, IL, a beautiful little historic church built in the 1800s.

J&H(439of661).jpg

Afterwards, the reception was held at The Haight in Elgin, IL, a charming, rustic, industrial venue. We were lucky enough to get a sunny day in Chicago in November, and from start to finish, our wedding was filled with joy and almost tangible love.

What was your wedding date and location?

Littleton, Colorado at The Barn at Raccoon Creek, a historic barn that that blends the best of classic country charm and modern conveniences without leaving the Mile High City

How/when did you and your fiancé(e) meet?

Her version: I will never forget that snowy Thursday we met. It was February 13 in the Lower East Side at a little place we call Hair of The Dog. Now, Hair of the Dog is no ordinary bar, and it’s certainly not a place one goes to meet a potential partner. In fact, most visitors go for the cheap drinks, loud music and wild debauchery that often ensues. After being invited to a free happy hour to celebrate a friend’s birthday, I couldn’t say no. Interestingly enough, my sister and parents were in town that weekend and I was successfully able to convince my sister to join us.

After arriving that night, the bar full of people, I decided that it was time to show off my moves. With no one interested in dancing with me, I started tearin’ it up solo. Seconds later, I locked eyes with a man across the bar. It was as if we already knew each other, and there was no one else in the room. All of the sudden, he came straight up to me without a word, and joined me on the dance floor.

The next part of the night is a bit blurry, but what I do remember, is the way he looked at me and the way he made me feel. I also know he was wildly impressed with my dancing, although he will never admit it… Later that night, after many stories, laughs and games, it was time to depart each other. We shared numbers and he said he would be in touch.

The next day was Valentine’s Day, and Jeff – still enamored by my blazing personality and million dollar smile – decided to cancel his two dates he had lined up. (I’m so lucky). He waited three days to get in touch, and finally, when he did, we decided we’d meet the next day. Monday rolled around and both of us had the day off because it was President’s Day. So, after a girl’s brunch uptown, my friends convinced me that the only plausible thing to do that afternoon was to go back to Hair of The Dog. Bear in mind, we live in New York City where there are thousands of bars, but they chose this one…After unsuccessfully trying to convince them to go to another bar, I began to prepare my words for Jeff when I had to explain that yes, I am back at Hair of the Dog, and no, I don’t live here. An hour later as we set up shop on one side of the bar, I texted Jeff to alert him of the news. After explaining that my girlfriends and I were back at the place of our original meeting and I swear, embarrassingly, I’m really not here all the time, his response is not what I expected. He was already there, on the other side of the bar!

So I gather my friends excitedly and tell Jeff I’ll be right over, right before realizing I don’t exactly remember what he looks like…. Thursday night was quite the blur, as I said. So I grab the girls and march right over to a group of boys that look somewhat familiar. Immediately upon arrival, as they begin to speak broken English, I realize this is definitely not Jeff… he wasn't foreign, was he? So I scan the bar, and that’s when I see him, staring at me with a goofy grin on his face, wondering what, exactly, I’m up to. I say goodbye to my new friends, and skip happily over to Jeff.

It was this moment we realized how serendipitous it was to be back 4 days later at the same bar, out of the million bars and restaurants in the city, when neither of us even live in Manhattan, at the same exact time. It was then we knew that life had a plan for us, and we were meant to be together. We’ve only been back to Hair of the Dog once or twice since then, but we will always be thankful for that crazy little sports bar and it's cheap happy hour.

How did the proposal happen?

We had been together for about 5 years so I was getting antsy in having him pop the big q. We planned a big trip to Hawaii with his parents and sister, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to happen on this trip, since it was centered around his mom and sister visiting their 50th state. A few days after arrival, Jeff decided to snag me at twilight and bring me down to the beach for sunset. It was here he got down on one knee – and almost got wiped out by waves – and asked me to marry him. It was one of the best, most exhilarating moments of my life!!  Moments later, I looked up to see his whole family running across a field to get to us, crying!

Tell us a little about yourself and your significant other. Where are you from? What do you do for a living? Do you have any fun/unusual hobbies, skills, passions?

The bride – born and raised in Colorado, I love the outdoors – camping, hiking, mountain biking, rafting – you name it! After leaving Colorado when I was 18, I’ve since lived in San Diego, Florence, and now New York City for the past 9 years. Moving to New York allowed me to meet my now husband. It has also brought countless adventures, many late nights, new friends, dart leagues, career opportunities, and so much more. There is no place like New York City, and my husband and I are forever grateful for what it has brought us. Now, 7 months after our wedding in Colorado, we are planning to make a move out west. We are really excited for this new adventure, but will always have New York City in our hearts.

The groom – My now husband is a city kid – born and raised in Staten Island, loves everything about the city – the concerts, the people, the sports, and the nightlife. But he also loves to golf and ski, and ready for our big move. He’s never lived more than 2 hours from NYC, so this will be a huge change for him, but he can’t wait!

How did you choose your venue/date?

Having grown up in Littleton, Colorado, I always imagined my wedding there, and thankfully my now husband was totally on board. With about half of our family and friends in Colorado, and half in New York, we also knew pretty quickly that the wedding would be in one of these places. After investigating a few venues in both states, however, we swiftly realized that Colorado made the most sense for us, both financially and emotionally. In September 2018, about two months after getting engaged, we booked one weekend to Colorado to see as many venues as we could. And that weekend was insane. We saw 10 VENUES in one weekend all over the state!! The Barn at Raccoon Creek is about 10 minutes from where I grew up, and was the third venue we looked at in person. My husband said right away, this is it, this is what we want, let’s say yes, blow off the rest of the venues we were going to look at and go golf! But I wasn’t ready to commit, I needed to see everything so I knew I wouldn’t have regrets. From there, we drove all over the state, seeing an assortment of different venues. Finally, by the end of the day, we drove to a brewery to reset, review and decide. It was there that we realized my husband had been right all along, The Barn at Raccoon Creek gave us pretty much everything we wanted within our budget, so we said yes!

Tell us about your dress shopping experience. How many places did you shop before you came to Schone?

Schone was the first bridal shop I visited, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere immediately after walking in. While my first visit didn’t give me the dress I wanted, I knew there was something special about this shop, and I loved how close it was to our apartment in Park Slope. From there, I visited Kleinfeld’s once, and knew I wanted to go back to Schone. It was my third dress shopping experience at Schone where I found my dream dress!

Which designer did you choose and what did you love about their work especially?

Ultimately I went with a beautiful dress by Anais Annette. I loved everything about their dresses – feminine, sexy, classy, lacy, elegant and flattering. I loved the models they chose to work with and I loved their story – two sisters! Having one sister myself, it made me love them even more.

How many gowns did you try on before you said Yes? What was it about this one that made you say yes?

A lot of people dream about their dress for years and know exactly what they want, but that wasn’t the case for me. I had no clue what I wanted! I didn’t even know where to start. I quickly realized though that I needed to do some research to find inspiration before my third dress shopping experience at Schone. By this time, I had visited Schone once before, and Kleinfeld’s, trying on about 12 dresses between both places. I went online and started looking at what dresses Schone had available. It was during this time I stumbled across Anais Annette and found a dress I absolutely loved – the Amina gown. I called the shop and they said I was in luck, while they didn’t have my dress in the shop at that current time, they were getting ready to host an Anais Anette trunk show in a few weeks’ time where they would have the 2019 collection available to try on. I was thrilled!!! But I was also nervous – would the dress fit? Would it meet my expectations? A few weeks later, I went to the shop to try on my dream dress. And I knew the moment I pulled the dress over my shoulders. It was perfect! I loved the delicate lace, I loved that it felt sexy and classy at the same time, I loved how it showed my curves in the best way possible – I loved everything about it. I said yes to the dress that day!

Was the gown you picked what you imagined you’d pick when you started out?

Yes and no – I didn’t really know what I would ultimately say yes to! I knew I wanted to show off my curves, but I also wanted to be able to move. I wanted lace, but not an overwhelming amount. I wanted something that would be timeless. I told myself to trust the process – to listen to what people said, “when you know, you know.” While that was terrifying (would I ever know??), I went with it and when I tried on the Amina gown, I really did feel like I knew. That was the one. When I was making that final decision, my best friend also reminded me that I had already made the hardest decision… I said yes to the man I’d commit my life to! Everything beyond that is big, yes, but not nearly as big as choosing your partner for life.

HJW-240_websize.jpg

Did you choose to wear anything sentimental on your wedding day?

I wore my grandmother’s bracelet – she passed about 10 months before our wedding and it was really special to feel like she was with me every step of the way. I also wore a veil created and designed by my best friend. That was incredibly special!

What was your “Old”, “Borrowed” and “Blue”? (if applicable of course)

I tried to apply this on my wedding day, but it didn’t work out as planned – my “old” piece was the bracelet I wore from my grandmother. My “borrowed” piece came to me during my reception! My mother-in-law’s best friend was asking what borrowed piece I was wearing and I said I didn’t know, I hadn’t planned it! She quickly gave me one of her rings to wear the rest of the night. And my blue came from my garter!

HJW-561_websize.jpg

Did you have any major surprises on your wedding day (or weekend)? Good or bad

Lucky for me, I ended up getting my period, a pimple, and a cold sore for my wedding!!! HOW FUN IS THAT?! I was so upset. I definitely lost it the Wednesday before my wedding, but thankfully my sister, mom and best friend calmed me down and talked me through it. Ultimately, I had no control over those things. I had to think about what I did have control over, and what was the most important – having all my favorite people together in one place while I said yes to my best friend.

How did your dress feel during the day? Anything you would have done differently or anything you feel worked out perfectly? (think bra choice, shoe choice, etc)

Looking back at the pictures, I should have taken my Spanx off after the ceremony and before the reception. You can see the line in my pictures during the reception, but I’ve accepted it! I also would’ve sized down when initially buying the dress. With my dress being full of lace, and losing a good amount of weight, I couldn’t get the dress to fully fit my body like a glove – my seamstress was a magician, but because of the way the dress was built, she couldn’t tailor more than she did, and I wanted it a bit tighter. It all worked out though!

Tell us about your ceremony. Was it religious? Did you choose your own readings, music, or write your own vows? Pick a detail or two to share about

Our ceremony was mostly non-denominational, with some spiritual elements mixed in. We asked my sister’s husband, our brother-in-law, to marry us and looked to him for guidance on what would be special to incorporate. He was incredible! He took time to recognize our journey and how everything had led us to that moment. He also allowed us the time to look out at our friends and family and really soak in the moment. We also asked him to include a few of our favorite readings, and we asked one of our close friends to come up and read something as well. We had a string duo play music during our entrance and exit, which was phenomenal. I walked down the aisle to our first love song – Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, played by our string duo. I as walked by both of my parents on either side. The ceremony lasted about 30 minutes and was absolutely one of my favorite experiences of my life!!

What was your favorite part of the day?

Opening up the double doors of the bridal cottage and seeing my now husband at the end of the aisle, surrounded on both sides by all of our best friends and family. I will never forget that moment!

Now that it’s all said and done, do you have any advice to offer future brides?

Try not to sweat the small stuff, and remember to have fun. Weddings today have so much pressure to be perfect – pressure to have the best flowers, the most creative cocktail hour, the most innovative rehearsal dinner set-up, the pressure to be bigger, better and more exciting than the billion other weddings taking place around the world. It’s hard not to get bogged down in those details, but you must continue to remind yourself what’s important – you are marrying your best friend.

Felisha is FIRE in Her Rebecca Schoneveld Karina Gown

Where do we begin!

Felisha, you are an absolute vision in your Rebecca Schoneveld Karina Gown and we had such a hard time narrowing down photos to feature in this post!

Felisha and her man, Danny were married back on Nov. 4th, 2017 at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island, NY. Boy, do we wish we could have been there! These two look as though they had the BEST time and from Felisha’s answers to all our burning questions, we have assumed right!

How/when did you and your fiancé(e) meet?

“Danny and I met back in 2007 at a high school graduation party. We didn’t say a word to each other the entire party while we sat next to each other… THE.ENTIRE.TIME! I didn’t know who he was and vice versa! I left the party not knowing his name but I was so determined to find him one way or another. I knew he was the one just like how I knew my gown was the one! It took me about 6 months to finally come across his Facebook page (by accident, I promise). I built up the courage to private message him but he didn’t message me back FOR ANOTHER YEAR! At the time, I lived in Virginia but soon after we reconnected through Facebook arguing over the NY Jets and NY Giants, we began a long distance relationship in 2010! The long distance lasted for 2 years until I moved back to Long Island. The rest is history!”

How did the proposal happen?

Danny proposed to me in 2015 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico during a family vacation. At every family vacation, my family and I take our Christmas card photos with a local photographer. During this session, the photographer was given the ring to hold without me knowing. The photographer began to separate Danny and I from the family which I thought was odd haha and he began to take “couple photos” of just us and not of my parents…suspicious. When the photographer asked me to face the ocean and to not turn around…I knew WHAT was happening! I turned back around and Danny was on one knee asking for my hand in marriage as we both laughed! I of course said, YES!

Tell us a little about yourself and your significant other. Where are you from? What do you do for a living? Do you have any fun/unusual hobbies, skills, passions?

My name is Felisha Antunes and my husbands name is Daniel Antunes. We are both from Bay Shore, NY. I am an Early Childhood Teacher and Danny is a Quality Assurance Auditor. We are currently expecting our first baby which is due 5 days after our wedding anniversary! November will always be a special month for us!

Danny and I absolutely love to travel and exploring, especially within the United States. We LOVE going oversees but right now, we want to see everything that the States has to offer! There are so many hidden gems! Another thing that Danny and I enjoy doing is eating breakfast at different restaurants. We love doing this so much that we decided to have Brunch for Dinner at our reception!

One last thing that we love as a couple is music. Music has always been so special to us since I used to be a dancer when I was younger and Danny is such an old soul. Music played such a big role in our wedding right down to the seating chart and table numbers! Each table was named after our favorite Albums.  Our main goal was to have no one sit but dancing and to talk about how fun the wedding was for years to come. I am proud to say, 3 years later many guests still say they had a blast at our wedding or that it was the most fun they had at one.

Tell us about your dress shopping experience. How many places did you shop before you came to Schone?

I found Schone Bride on Instagram and literally when I saw the Karina gown I knew it was mine! I never wanted a traditional white dress. After spotting the dress on Instagram, I made an appt at Schone and brought along my mother, grandmother and a few of my bridesmaids. Schone was the absolute first shop I ever stepped foot in to try on dresses and got chills the moment I walked in. The vibe is FANTASTIC! Everyone makes you feel so welcomed and relaxed! At this appt, I grabbed a few other gowns to try on even though I knew the Karina gown was the one before even trying it on. I went through the rack of dresses, I’d say maybe 3 others, because I didn’t want the experience to be boring for my friends lol so I left my gown for last. The moment I put it on, all of the emotions took over and I am not an emotional person!

Which designer did you choose and what did you love about their work especially?

I chose Rebecca Schoneveld Bridal. I loved how different my dress was but also how it made me feel like a princess!

Was the gown you chose what you imagined you’d pick when you started out?

Absolutely! I am a true believer in believing in my gut and intuition. I knew it wasn’t wrong once I saw the dress online!

How did your dress feel during the day? Anything you would have done differently or anything you feel worked out perfectly? (think bra choice, shoe choice, etc)

My dress fit perfectly! Although I did have a little mishap with the bustle since I didn’t pay attention at the last fitting because I was so excited, so I basically danced with my train out the whole night! No complains here!

Rebecca Schoneveld Karina Gown Ceremony.jpg

Tell us about your ceremony. Was it religious? Did you choose your own readings, music, or write your own vows? Pick a detail or two to share about!

We absolutely loved our ceremony!! As I walked down the aisle, we played “Touching Heaven” by Johnnyswim. I had my stepfather walk me down the aisle but only halfway because we wanted to include my little brothers in our ceremony. Danny has known the boys since they were in diapers so it was very important to us that they had a role, especially since they see him as an older brother. My stepfather and I met my two younger brothers who were 8 and 11 at the time at the beginning of the aisle so that they could give me away to Danny. They had both never been to a wedding and didn’t quite know the meaning of everything but once I walked towards them I noticed they were crying! At the time, they thought since they were giving me away that I would not be a part of the family anymore. How adorable/ sweet/ sad was that!

We also had our best friend/ groomsman, Lee, get his ordain license so that he could marry us! Our ceremony was just so us! Lastly, since we wanted the party to begin ASAP, we gave everyone a glass of champagne as they arrived, instructed them to not drink it till the end of the ceremony because Lee asked the guests to raise their glasses and repeat after him, “WE now pronounce you Husband and Wife!”

What was your favorite part of the day?

My favorite part of the day was literally the WHOLE DAY! Throughout the wedding process, I was as chill as a cucumber and let whatever happen, happen. The whole day ran smoothly! We played Beer Pong at the reception with balls that had our hashtag on them, Danny crowd surfed, we served our signature drinks which were named after us and was also trending that same year…”Damn Daniel and Bye Felisha” and we even had Mister Softee come at the end of the wedding which was a hit!

Now that it’s all said and done, do you have any advice to offer future brides?

Don’t try to be perfect! Your day will be the most memorable day of your life no matter what happens or if you forget to add a certain detail. One advice that I received from a great friend during the wedding planning process was “Whatever you may be stressing over just remember, all you need is your groom, a witness and your love! The rest is just for fun!”

#SchoneBride & MakeUp Artist Cherise STUNS in NYC Chic Style

New York chic bridal style is a win win in our book, but we might be a little biased. (We love our city!) But when we saw our #SchoneBride Cherise STUN on her wedding day in the Rebecca Schoneveld Calista gown, we knew we had to share.

Cherise sent us some amazing photos by On The Times Photography and told us all about not only her dress shopping experience, but also some fun and unique touches about her big day!

23215524_10156919447437178_403734657293210156_o.jpg

Cherise’s wedding day was a perfect New York day back in September 2017, with overcast weather (makes for the BEST photos, amiright?), and an energy in the air that was palpable. The wedding took place at Aurora Brooklyn and is covered in gorgeous green vine everywhere. They had long tables set for a feast!

From The Bride

How/when did you and your fiancé(e) meet?

We were friends for awhile before we started dating which I loved. I was going into my Senior Year attending Fashion Institute of Technology and I would come home to work at our friends clothing shop in West Hampton. Dan was friends with them so he would always visit the shop. After months of hanging out with the group in the Hamptons, a few city dates at Malatesta Trattoria and coffee dates at our friends coffee shop, Ground Support, it continued to turn into a more serious relationship.

How did the proposal happen?

It was on his birthday in 2015. We lived in Downtown Brooklyn and I worked at Birchbox at the time. He begged me to take the day off, meanwhile he usually never cares about his birthday. I happened to be planning HIM a surprise birthday party that night at the Wythe. Little did I know that right before I was rushing to get ready, he turned on his Otis Redding record (our first record we played together and the song I walked down the aisle to), “I’ll let nothing separate us..” played, he poured us wine, our pup Nelli hanging out on the couch with us, and he started getting down on one knee.. from there I remember hysterically crying shaking and just saying yes after he said he wanted this to be our own little family. He also totally hijacked my surprise party, knew it was happening and turned it into a surprise engagement with a few of our friends and family. He got me good!!

Tell us about your dress shopping experience. How many places did you shop before you came to Schone?

My friend sent me to Schone as the very first pospotst because she knew it was my kind of vibe. I went with a few girlfriends and I found my dream dress in the first shopping trip! I knew I didn’t want to cotnunue the dreaded search and I was so happy that I found it immediately. The experience was super chill and laid back and there were so many gorgeous dresses and accessories to choose from. I loved playing around and knew I didn’t have to look anywhere else!

Which designer did you choose and what did you love about their work especially?

I chose Rebecca Schonefeld and I loved the simplicity of my dress and the super low back which is exactly what I wanted.

How many gowns did you try on before you said Yes? What was it about this one that made you say yes?

I believe this was the second dress I tried on. The fit and low back made me say yes! It wasn’t too bridal looking so I loved that feel about it.

Was the gown you chose what you imagined you’d pick when you started out?

No! I thought I wanted lace, and when I tried it on it didn’t feel like me.

What was your favorite part of the day?

The food at Aurora! Everyone says you don’t eat at your wedding, but I made sure I sat down and tried everything. Also, the afterparty at Donna Cocktail Lounge. We didn’t have dancing at Aurora, so we came here after for a private dancing party with our friends and family.

Now that it’s all said and done, do you have any advice to offer future brides?

Don’t take anything too seriously on your wedding. Between experiencing my own and getting to experience hundreds of brides weddings as I glam them up, all those tiny details and things you worry about fall into place so perfectly. At the end of the day, you realize you’re there to celebrate the love between you and your fiance. Just let go and have fun!

Details:

Anything unexpected happen? Good or bad?

I thought I was going to ball my eyes out at the ceremony because I am one of those people who cry at every sad or lovey thing, and I did not shed ONE tear. I think I was too nervous to have all eyes on me!

Tell us about your ceremony. Did you choose your own readings, music, or write your own vows?

Our ceremony was at Aurora and our cousins Lisa & Paul were our officiants. We both wrote our own vows, the night before at midnight! After the ceremony, we all sat down for a family style brunch. It was absolutely perfect!

Any unique details you’d suggest or like to share?

Instead of a cake, we rented VanLeuwan Icecream Truck which everyone thought was the most amazing thing.  They loved that instead of waiting for passed around cake they got to go outside and hangout with ice cream cones!  Made for amazing photo op too. Another thing to maybe note that I thought was cool , We burned palo santo wood at the ceremony!
